Leaders of diverse school systems frequently cite equity as a goal to guide school reform efforts. While the operative definition of educational equity continues to evolve and expand, many experts emphasize that equity focuses on meeting the needs of a culturally, linguistically, and socio-economically diverse student population. The Center for Public Education (CPE) defines equity as “when all students receive the resources they need so they graduate prepared for success after high school.”
